Leslie’s Bridals
Whenever a client calls and asks about getting photos done, with a “view of the Sandia Mountains”, I’m picturing an eager potential customer that has just glanced through a local magazine, or advertisment with commercial photos taken at the Hyatt Tamaya Regency at Sandia Casino and want those exact same photographs.
Unfortunately, the location fee for shooting at the Hyatt Tamaya Regency is (according to an internal spokesperson who was less than thrilled about my inquiry) $3,000 USD. Thankfully there are a number of other great locations to do a photo shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico with a stunning vista of not only the city (something you wouldn’t get if you paid the $3,000 fee) but the Sandia Mountains as well.
Yesterday my client and I trekked over to Boca Negra Canyon, just outside of the Petroglyph National Monument on Albuquerque’s westside. Mind you, there are no facilities, no real “parking” and does require about a 1/10th of a mile’s drive off road. However, I’ve been there many times before with plenty of protections in place (sheets, blankets, towels and water) and have had wonderful experiences shooting out in the desert.
If someone is willing, then I am most definitely able.
Here are some examples of what was captured at yesterday evening’s photo shoot.
Leslie is getting married in upstate NY and wanted some images of Albuquerque to hang at her reception.
A Little Bit South…
(…of Albuquerque) lies the town of Mountainair, and not too far outside of Mountainair, is several old pueblo ruins.
They are called, Gran Quivira, Abo, and Quarai.
Here are a few images taken last summer at these ruins.
Envee like Envy
Considering the fact that I don’t get out much, unless I’m shooting for a client or doing comissioned work, having the opportunity to work with a model and having complete creative control over a photo shoot is something of a novelty to me.
Working with Envee was great. We took a walking tour of some of Albuquerque’s scariest and most urban smelliest and most dirty alleyways, hopping between dumpsters and braving the native curious onlookers to get our late evening photos. Not only was Envee brave, but she was up for just about anything.
Envee is an up and coming Professional R&B singer and is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She’s in the studio now, working on her album (or CD, or whatever they’re called now). In situations like this, TFCD is a great arrangement for both of us. Expect to see much more from Envee very soon.
